My journey into the world of sourdough has become a big part of my heart! Sourdough has become so much more than just bread. It’s the perfect blend of my two passions: baking and gut health. When I discovered how sourdough’s natural fermentation process could support a healthier gut, I knew I’d found something special. Each loaf I bake brings those gut-friendly benefits to my family’s table, while also giving me a creative outlet that feeds the soul.
And here’s a special part of my journey: Lucy, my 50+ year old starter! Lucy was named after my grandmother, as I used to love baking with her as a child. What better way to honor those memories than this?! She has a rich history of her own, and I feel so lucky to nurture and share her with others. Working with a starter that’s been around for decades is like connecting with a tradition of health and flavor that goes back generations.
Sourdough also taught me how peaceful and meditative baking can be. Each step—from mixing and folding to watching the dough rise—has a calming, almost magical quality. I’ve found so much joy in sharing Lucy and teaching others the art of sourdough in my workshops. Seeing others discover this process and realize how simple, rewarding, and delicious it can be is incredibly fulfilling.
I’m excited to share everything I’ve learned, from tips and recipes to all the ways sourdough can support gut health. Whether you’re new to baking or just curious, I’m here to help make sourdough easy, fun, and nourishing.
